Admissions for School Year 2022-23

IMPORTANT

If you are interested in applying to both of the Science Leadership Academy Campuses, you MUST add both campuses to your list of choices on the High School Selection online form. If you are only interested in one campus, only put one of the schools. Please be reminded that if you only choose one campus, you will not be considered for the other campus for admissions. Tours

For the 2021-2022 school year to prepare for 2023 admission, we will be conducting small tours so that prospective students can learn about the community at SLA @ Beeber. We are excited to welcome the new classes of 5th and 9th graders in 2022 as well as transfer students in grades 6th-8th grade, and 10th-12th grades.

Admission Criteria

Admission to SLA is based on a combination of a student interview with a presentation of completed work, STAR testing data as well as any standardized test data. Please be reminded that we will not use data for PSSA or Keystone testing from the academic school year 2019 – 2020 as the tests were canceled.

Lower School: 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade Star testing data and standardized test results for those years. Applicants should have A’s and B’s with the possible exception of one C in core content areas, teacher or counselor recommendation as well as good attendance and punctuality.

The middle school interview is a short observed small group activity along with a written individual reflection.

Interested families must complete the Interview Request Form to set up an appointment for an interview. SLA will not initiate the interview process with families.

Please see our lower school admissions flyer here..

Upper School: 5th and 6th grades Star testing data and standardized test results for those years. Applicants should have A’s and B’s with the possible exception of one C in core content areas, teacher or counselor recommendation as well as good attendance and punctuality.

The high school interview is a project-based interview. Students must present a school paper or project done in 7th or 8th grade that they feel is a strong representation of who they are as a student.
